My dear friend and neighbor Lucy texted me an inspiration pic of this gorgeous storefront with bright pink flowers overflowing all around the entrance. “Check this out!” she said. I wrote back that I thought I could figure out how to make that happen at her cute little dress shop….if she wanted.
Next thing ya know, we ordered the flowers and it was on! The plan is to change it out seasonally….until she decides it’s time to take it down. What a fun project!!
The first installation we just did a base, or neutral color palette. Real greens were incorporated along with faux greens and silk flowers. I only used flowers that I would be using if this were an arbor of fresh flowers….to add to the “real” effect. I wanted people to wonder….”is it real, or is it Memorex?” (little 80’s reference there)
After a few days the real greenery began to fade, and eventually some of it turned a beautiful orange-y color. When I came over to “refresh” and add in the hot pink flowers, we decided to leave some of it. It was about 7:30 in the morning and it was already hot as blue blazes! Had a little trouble with the ladder I had brought over, but fortunately there were some guys remodeling one of the stores nearby, and a very nice gentleman lent me his ladder. All in all it was a very successful day! Stay tuned to see what we decide to add for Fall!
